Abstract:
The purpose of this presentation is to demonstrate the recent advances on the mechanism of cavitating jet erosion by introducing the flow visualization techniques, such as the surface pits visualization, and the shadowgraph, Schlieren and cross-Schlieren techniques as well as the further image analyses. These experimental techniques allow the observation of shockwave formation and the surface distribution of impulsive forces by microjet. Furthermore, the erosion mechanism of cavitating jet was studied by comparing the spatial distributions of cavitating jet and the impulsive forces on the erosion materials.
