Abstract:
This study presents a novel approach to directly measuring heat transfer coefficients on a heated cylinder in cross-flow using the ALTP (Active Layer Temperature and Heat Flux) sensor. The experiments focus on forced convection, with the objective of investigating local heat transfer behavior. The ALTP sensor, capable of simultaneous temperature and heat flux measurements, enables precise calculation of the Nusselt number, offering insights into the impact of flow dynamics, such as boundary layer separation and wake flow, on heat transfer. Preliminary results reveal symmetric heat flux patterns with notable fluctuations linked to flow features, providing a foundation for further studies, including spectral analyses and numerical validation.
